Young Man on Red Stool with Painterly Rug, Antique Folk Art Painted Tintype

I've become very enamored with antique folk art painted tintypes, and this example embodies exactly why--wonderfully strange, rather surreal, and feeling quite out of time and place. Especially great helmet-like hair on this serious young man in black suit, who seems 3-dimensional against the flat gray painted ground (making me think of a fotocultura), but best of all the electric-feeling red and black detailing on his chair, and the painterly red and green against ochre patterning of the rug, like a field of open mouths! A great one. 

8 7/16" x 6 1/2". Good condition, with one light bend to upper right quarter, pretty minor, and corner wear as evident.
