Vernacular Structures in Marvelous Palette, Unsigned Oil on Masonite Painting

Regular price $140.00

I found this one at an antiques show in Bath, Maine last weekend--pulled out just as I was leaving, and I snatched it immediately. Unsigned, and artist unknown, but I think quite a terrific and also joyful painting (those roofs looking like bubble gum ice cream!) with the color palette making me think of Philip Guston, and these structures making me think of Holland. Delight in vernacular architecture, wonderful play of color and pattern, representation that almost reads like pure abstraction--lots of good things rolled into one!

24" x 12", oil on masonite, very good condition. Mid century or so, I would guess.
