This heavy plate with a beautiful aqua green glaze and incised design of three whales circling around a triple spiral at its center was made in a limited edition by the United States Quarry Tile Company in conjunction with the Romany Spartan Ceramics Company in the 1950's. There were a few different plate designs produced, but this whale design I believe was by far the loveliest, and, perhaps for this reason, is the hardest to find!
This plate would be striking hung on the wall, but also terrific used as a serving plate.
9.75" diameter x 1/2" tall, excellent condition.
