I actually picked this one out of a pile looking at it upside-down, thinking it looked like a smiling ghost (or snow woman)--see second photo. Then I turned it the right way up to find this very sober looking, somewhat Frankenstein-ian face! Both ways pretty terrific I think, and I like this idea of the drawing holding two aspects at once. Plus what a brilliant thing crayon resist drawing/paintings are, with the scraped away black tempera paint lending extra moodiness and aura to the whole thing. Great.
12" x 9", very good condition, much better in person, with a real intensity to it and very strong color.
