My favorite find of the week--and since finding a large, wound barbed wire ball a month or so ago, which I might have sold 20 times over, I've had a keen eye out for old barbed wire, though I never expected a beautifully crafted basket to land in my proverbial lap! For me, this is about both its emphatic materiality, and its transcendence--an uncanny thing, more a sculpture than a functional object, though it is quite a sturdy basket should one wish to carry it--carefully!--around. Feels almost like a ghost of a thing, or like a web of twisted thorns in the dead of winter, and in the right situation it will cast the most glorious shadows. Stunning.
