1901 Froebel Kindergarten Thread Drawings: Set One, 4 Drawings

Regular price $48.00

As I've learned more about kindergarten inventor Friedrich Froebel and the series of "Gifts" he created to give form and structure to discovery based learning, I now know that these yarn drawings were product of Gift #12, some made on pre-punched cards, as here, others make by punching points through a gridded template. Looking at these, it should not seem too surprising that Paul Klee and Piet Mondrian were both products of early kindergarten. I especially love the pink box at upper right in first photo, as it looks an awfully lot like the square slide top boxes in which Froebel blocks were housed. Such loveliness created through a series of small, clear, cumulating gestures. I believe will never tire of looking at pieces like these.

Each measures 4 1/2" x 3 3/4." Some wear as evident, overall good condition. Sold as a set of four.
