A moody beauty of an antique memory jug, densely encrusted with all sorts of things, adding up to a really great surface and also a treasure hunt, and with glass stopper to boot. I don't often go for memory jugs, but I immediately jumped on this one. Lots of shells, nails and other hardware, part of a bone ruler, a porcelain doll head, a glass vial, all sorts of brass bits and bobs, buttons, and lots more. I especially like the miniature brass coffin reading "talked to death"! Wonderfully dark and craggy and sculptural and teeming with presence.
8 7/8" tall with stopper (which comes out) x approx 6 1/4" in diameter. Good condition, with few evident losses; one does want to be a bit careful handling it as there is quite a lot packed onto/into the surface.
