Antique Painted House Blocks Set By Unknown Maker in Original Box

Regular price $175.00

I've had one other set clearly by the same maker as these, housed in the just the same type of cornflower blue painted box--though those in a different palette, and with some different components; who the maker was I have no idea! They are most definitely scarce ones, and pretty much nothing I love more than gloriously colorful blocks with great graphic appeal--especially with windows painted on them, allowing for the creation of vast grids. Lots of possibilities here, with a front door with awning and pillars included as an assembled piece, and ten rectangular spatter painted blocks matching the entry steps.

Box measures 14 3/8" x 8 5/8" x 4 3/4". Well used condition, with a loss to the slide top of the box. (The box makes an excellent platform turned upside-down.) There are another dozen or so of the yellow blocks I have not incorporated into the "house" in first photo--those showing a bit more paint loss. And there are four angled pieces meant to compose the pitched roof, one with a bit of loss along one edge that makes them hard to balance properly learning against each other (gluing, or puttying the parts together I believe would do the trick; I've photographed just one piece of the roof on its platform with a block behind to keep it pitched in first photo, and then used a couple of the blue blocks to prop them leaning together in later photos. Everything in photos included.
