This is the third of three old steel die I am listing, which would have been used to cut leather for gloves and, in this case, mittens. I also have the (very large and very heavy) maul that would have been used to pound them into the leather to cut it--if you have an interest in that, just let me know! I love these as objects, both graphic and sculptural, and the handle makes a handy stand. Both the face and edges of the mitten shape show old red paint, plus some rust, as evident, all to the good in my opinion. And I really like that this one also shows some measurements, hand-painted in white against the red.
5 1/8" x 3" X 5 1/2" d. Surface aging as evident but completely indestructible.
