This has lost some of its beading and some of the fancy wire that once entirely framed the mirror, but I find it such an extraordinarily beautiful and special feeling thing, there was no way it wasn't coming home with me. I've never seen another like it, feeling much like a fragment mirror, but all the better for that mirror being embedded in a four point star sewn of hide, with beading at the corners and woven metallic thread around the sides. 19th century Native American I'm quite sure, and I would guess made to function as a pin cushion, though feeling of quite a different ilk than most one sees. There's a jewel-like quality to the mirror that feels quite magical and otherworldly.
3 3/4" x 3 1/2" x 1 1/16". Losses as evident but structurally sound, all seams holding tights and mirror firmly embedded.
