William Fogg's Character-full Antique EGGS Shipping Crate, Bethlehem, NH

Regular price $110.00

This old shipping crate with EGGS written on every side seems particularly timely given the preciousness of eggs these day, and I love the hand-drawn black ink lettering spelling EGGS (especially against that white and with nails on all sides). The crate itself is pretty much indestructible,  with a strong tension closure (that bit of hardware made by Stanley, 1880s) in addition to a latch with room for a lock--such that one could store all ones very valuable eggs inside and never worry about them again! And this crate was indeed used to ship some dozens of eggs, with an paper American Express label on the top and the underside addressed to a Mr. William Fogg of Bethlehem, NH. Much better than photos convey, in excellent original gray paint, with all original hardware in place, super sturdy, sits square, lots of room inside for all sorts of things, good for stacking below or atop other crates or boxes.

 14 1/2" x 13" x 8 1/4", terrific patina, super sturdy and sound.
