I've bought and sold a lot of antique dominoes sets, but I've never seen, let alone had, a set of handmade metal ones--and in their original hand-carved slide lid box to boot, custom made exactly to their size and held together with old square nails. With a very satisfying weight to them, perfectly wonky placement of the dots, and producing a very satisfying sound when they clack against each other or are laid onto the table. Steel I believe, perhaps made by a machinist/metal worker for lunch hour play or as a gift to bring home to the family. Found west of Albany, NY, and I doubt they migrated far. Obviously one of a kind and to all of my sensibilities, super special.
Set of 27 (just missing the 2/2 domino). Box 4" x 2" x 1 1/2". Dominoes (27): 1 1/4" x 3/4". All in wonderful, richly patinated antique condition.
