A very painterly and poetic feeling old photo, which a stamp on the back reveals was taken, and printed, aboard the Canadian Pacific Line's SS Duchess of Bedford, a steamship built and launched in 1928. I just love the atmospheric quality of the image, as if taken on a very moody and foggy day, with soft-edged landmasses on the horizon and just the edge of what I take for an American flag in the foreground, its stripes framing--and defining--the view , making it feel like a metaphor, too.
5 7/8" x 3 5/8" and in good condition. C. late 1920s/1930s I believe.
