Ray's Funny "Chow Box", c. 1930s-40s with Lunch Related Jokes Scratched In All Over

Regular price $60.00

I think Ray's wife amused herself a great deal annotating his lunch box--I imagine much more fun than preparing and packing his lunch each day! Photos detail the playful notes scratched into the paint everywhere, which comment on the matter of lunch ("Have respect for our coffee...It is old and weak...", "Chef's Special: Baloney ala sandwich," "Music furnished with our bean sandwiches"..).and also treat the lunch box itself as a place: "complaints department six flights up"; "climb up here for a sandwich on the house." Fun and funny and completely of its time.
