I was--am--struck by the excellent juxtaposition of views here: at top a perfectly staggered line up of five young potato sack race competitors in profile, ready to go, (and in perfectly descending size), and below, three facing squarely front, again forming a perfect diagonal (with one rear end as punctuation!) I'm not entirely sure how to articulate it, but to me the effect is a sense of simultaneity, as if the photographer were standing in two places at once. I also begin to wonder whether the person behind the camera was in fact thinking about sequence, and also about geometry, and choreographing as much as capturing the scene. Whatever the case, I keep returning to this one and thinking about in circles.
