I'm not the best at identifying birds, but certainly this is a bird of prey, either a falcon or a hawk I believe, with wire extending to form its crooked beak, and wonderfully large painted black eyes that make it seem keenly observant and poised not to miss a thing, miles around! Whether the base is original to it or not I can't say for sure, but they certainly feel akin, and there are two small holes in the wood into which the bird's wire feel insert. (It can be flipped to face in either direction.) Really beautiful painted detail and a lot of age to that paint; quite a striking creature, with a lot of presence,
Overall approx 11" tall. Falcon itself: 3 7/8" tall not including wire feet. A bit of surface cracking to the paint in a couple of spots, minor (and magnified in photos). There is also a small loss to the top of one wing, and a repair/addition to the base, which is a bit awkward (detailed), but also rather sweet, and makes it stand sturdy.
