A very timely feeling George Washington, I'd say, appearing as if he's just been whacked in the head by the American Flag (or buried under its weight) --and is none too pleased about it! With what looks rather like a red exclamation point just above the corner of his curled mouth, too, contributing to an overall sense of dismay and alarm. Poignant in all regards I think, and makes me at least really want to make George smile!
Under glass in antique wooden frame. Framed: 8 7/8" x 6 3/4". Paper: 7 1/4" x 5 1/8". Ink/watercolor on lined school paper, late 19th/early 20th c. All good condition.
