I come across a fair number of old stencils cut for painting apple barrels or crates, but this KING stencil transcends its origins, and as a lover of found language, how to resist? Plus the brass shines like gold. A gift fit for a king, I'd say--and good in all sorts of contexts. Stamped (embossed) Rod A Bachelor, Portland, Maine at upper left corner, late 19th c. I believe.
6 5/8" x 2 3/4", good antique condition, nice patina to the brass, with general wear, minor dings and bends, all to the good I think.
