Painterly Spring Flowers in Blue Vase, Charming Large Oil on Canvas Still Life, c. 2nd Quarter 20th Century

This one is a hundred times better than photos convey--the ground a somewhat darker, richer gray, and the thick impasto on the flowers lending a real physicality to the surface and terrific sense of presence to the whole painting, which also shows nice craquelure. This made me feel cheerful in a very welcome way when I found it but while charming it does not feel at all saccharine; more like a moody spring day.

20" x 24" and in very good condition, with a couple of small white spots (bottom right at top left edge) not at all detracting. Wired on reverse for hanging. Earlyish 20th c. I believe.
