Found in Maine, and I believe by a Maine based ceramicist, as I have come across one equally striking vase in Maine by I am sure the same artist (which was snapped up by Ryan Wagner of Newlyn Lowly.) To my eye just a stunner of a piece--and a wonderful play on the form of a weedpot, with tiny opening in the stem at top. Clearly meant to represent a gourd, I'd display it next to a bowl of carefully chosen stone fruit! Fantastic surface, gorgeous color, and feeling both ancient and modern. I'd be especially glad to keep this one for myself.
9" t x 7 1/2" diameter and in very good condition, no chips that I can see, just some cracking to the surface of the clay body that seem native to it. Signed indistinguishably (to me) and dated '05 (2005) on the underside.
