I imagine this spectacular white glazed, cylindrical vase with sculpted, irregular rim on the kitchen island or at the center of the dinner table filled with calla lilies, branches of cherry blossoms or red berries, or perhaps even birds of paradise. But it is equally lovely filled with nothing at all--an elegant sculptural form that would look great most anywhere.
I found this piece at an estate sale in Marblehead, MA, which included a wonderful collection of mid-century and contemporary ceramics. It is 10.75" tall with a diameter of 4.5", and signed on the bottom. It is in very good overall condition, with a few small dark marks on the interior of the lip.
