What a cast of characters--not the sort one might want to encounter in a dark alley I'd say! Great faces and hats and a whole lot of attitude, but what especially sold me on this one is the painted (sideshow?) banner that hangs behind them, with a snake visible along the top edge center, looking as if whispering in the ear--or about to bite the neck--of the tallest young man. I presume the glassy eyed young man to the left him is in fact blind--very intense looking whatever the case, and seeming just right to have a snake emanating from his shoulder. An outdoor photo, with trees and a building visible behind the banner.
2 1/4" x 3 3/8". Some aging and surface wear as documented (shot with magnification) but overall good antique condition, later 19th c., very striking image with details clear and blacks strong.
