A beauty. I've gotten so that I like tramp art boxes that are either very minimalist, or very maximalist, and this one perfectly embodies why the former, feeling like a modernist sculpture but painstakingly crafted of cigar box wood. Seven stacked layers on the short sides, six on the long sides, nine on top and what looks to me like a total of 15 underneath. Lifting the lid, I was happy to find the original paper labels lining the interior of the box, locating its origins to Albany, which is just a few miles from where I found it. Also inside, three very very aged and curled old photos, pretty much beyond readability, but one looking to me as if bearing the ghosty image of a face (not so much as if the subject of the original photo, but as if having emerged from the spirit world!)
10" w x 6 3/4" d x 7" t and in very good condition, sturdy, stable and sound, with very little in the way of surface dings or wear. There is one small loss the rear side just along the hinge, as documented--minor, and not visible when facing front. Hinged well attached. Photos included as found.
