My tastes seem to be veering between finely crafted and super primitive these days and less so in between--things of the latter sort, like this chunky game board, hold a sort of democratic appeal, with no great skill required to make them, just a want and commitment to doing so! But happily manifested here is also a want to make special, with red and blue painted rings around the holes and blue around the perimeter, and each peg, painted silver and red at turns, whittled by hand, tapered to fit into the holes very snugly. To my eye a warmly cheerful and cheering thing.
10" x 9 3/4" x 3/4". Pegs from 1 1/2" to 2" l. This sort of board can be used for a numbe of different jumping peg games, including solitaire. A few pegs missing, as pictured, which one could easily cut a few dowels. or sticks, or whatever--to sub.
