1866 American Self Cutting and Fitting Yoke Pattern on Yellow Tissue Paper

Regular price $28.00

I purchased this one from a great paper dealer in Adamstown, PA, drawn like a magnet to the lovely yellow, the lettering, and to the lyrical lines of the yoke patten, leading the eye up, over and around. The pattern, with instructions for use printed in both English and German, was produced in 1866 by Rosenthal's (a textiles merchant I presume) at 210 Market Street in downtown Philadelphia--then the city's retail business hub, anchored by the High Street Market. Printed on tissue weight paper, it was made to be carefully cut and used, but happily this one never was, and remains in beautiful condition.

11 5/8" x 9 7/8" (printed area, as shown in photos)-- the paper is actually longer, with ends folded behind. The yellow of the paper is more radiant in person, and the black strong; a rare and lovely thing.
