A complete charmer of a folk art snuff box, and happily a dated one too, with 1850 spelled (numbered?) out in tiny brass nails at the top of the tight fitting slide lid. With wonderful inlaid mother of pearl at center of the lid, framed by more nails that extend out to form crosses, and what I believe are two urns with flowers on reverse, facing in opposite directions. And with careful attention paid to the carving of the box, with nicely rounded sides and recesses at the corners. A very lovely and special feeling one.
2 11/16" x 1 5/8". Perfect antique condition.
