Red Mouse (or Bat?), Fabulous Old Folk Art Ice Fishing Lure

Regular price $150.00

Just about my favorite old ice fishing decoy I've ever seen, and much better in hand, with quite an amazing patina in every regard; this one has lived quite a life. Meant to represent a mouse I presume, with a long twisted wire tail, but with those tin wings it could very well be taken for a flying red bat! With red painted tin ears too, and nails for eyes, with one old nail in front of one ear and two in front of the other (my favorite detail). Iron eye hook on top, and lead weight on the bright yellow painted underside. Marvelous wear to the wood and paint both, but not at all flaking now. A white a small scuff lending a little to the nose.

4" l x 3 1/2 w; 6 1/4" l including wire tail. 1 3/8" t. Notes on condition above, to my eye just perfectly aged, and sound and stable now, with paint not at all flaking.
