Wonderful Early Spanish Colonial Retablo Painting on Wood

Regular price $300.00

I regret that I'm not much good at identifying saints, but what a wonderful painting! And definitely a very old one, pre 19th century I might guess. Such a beatific face, crowned and haloed, with two fingers of one hand pointing heavenward, the other holding a staff, and what looks like an open book to the right. And then this beautifully florally decorated, red lined cape. Thickly painted on wood panel and to my eye just beautifully aged, this makes me want to build an alter and light candles in front of it for sure!

9 1/4" t x 6 1/16" x 5/8" d. There are a few old chips to the paint along the left edge as documented. There are two small holes at center top which could be threaded for hanging.
