No way could I resist this one, purchased from the great Chuck Auerbach at the Deerfield show in New Hampshire--I imagine done as a school project, or perhaps for a science fair, many years ago. I always love an awkwardly but effort-fully hand-drawn face on a diagrammatic body, which makes the whole thing feel highly subjective--and the proportion of head to body is especially great here! The arteries and veins were executed in modeling clay, sculpted then pressed onto the wood panel, with some missing bits here and there now. I especially love the use of black thread to connect the little hand-numbered stickers to their corresponding spots on the body, though the key is long gone!
23" t x 10 1/8" w. No surprise that there is some grime stuck to the clay at this point, and there's a split in the wood, too (seems stable), but what delight!
