A curious little box, which I believe was was to hold a roll of stamps on one side and a pen in the other. (Nothing on it opens or closes, and I can't figure out another purpose it would have served.) Rolls of stamps were first issued in 1908, and I would think this dates to not much after that. I love the rows of tiny stitches on either side of the open section, holding the piece of curved blue card in place to the walls of the box, and how the whole thing feels like a little stage when turned on its side.
3 15/16" x 2 7/16" x 2 1/8" t and in good condition, sturdy and stable, with some staining to the piece of blue card as evident.
