Stunning Photograph of Signed Woven Textile , Newly Framed (One of Two)

Regular price $250.00

In addition to the early 19th century embroidered bird on paper listed today, this (and its mate, listed separately) is the other Brimfield find purchased thinking of absolutely no one but myself, and I am very taken with it. At first, I thought it was an actual textile inside the frame--the photograph is that rich, and seems to me it might be an albumen print, but I can't tell for sure. I love that the image makes its subject (and what a beautiful textile it is, I would think c. 1920s-40s?) feel that present and palpable. And I always love the translation of a thing from one medium to another, and how that shift changes perceptions of it, here making it quite impossible to know the scale--a full scale rug or a small weaving?  There is a W woven in at lower right, I presume is a signature of sorts--appearing also in other) but it has lead me nowhere. For me, the whole thing hovers in a great sort of in between, holding both presence and absence in perfect balance, and mystery too.

Framed: 20 1/4" x 16 1/4". Photo: 13 3/4" x 9". Very good condition, very recently framed, archival matte, etc. Photos do no justice, and plenty of glare and reflection captured. (First photo shows glare near bottom making it appear as if damage to the mat; in fact the mat is very recently cut and in pristine condition
