Just a wonderful old carving from a piece of burl wood, with the grain of the wood giving added life to the body of the bird and making the whole piece feel rather as if in flight. Subtle but really quite a special one I think, actually one of my favorite carvings I’ver had.
3 1/8” t x 4” l x 1 3/8” d. There is a small bit of loss to the tail of the bird and to the very tip of its beak, both minor and old and I don’t think detracting. Wonderful dry wood patina.
