This tabletop sculpture of a woman with three children was created by Emily Fragua-Tsosie, born in 1951 in Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico. She refers to the women in sculptures such as this one as storytellers--mouths open, imparting tales to the children or grandchildren she balances in her arms. And these children look very happy to be receiving them!
The sculpture measures 6 inches tall x 4 inches wide x 3 inches deep. There is some spotting on the unglazed clay in the recesses of the sculpture, documented in photos.
