R.F Abbott 1880 Hand-drawn Student Map

I'm not totally sure why I'm so into this old map, done by an R.F. Abbott in 1880--I think it might be seeing "Dominion of Canada"  in writing, and that it makes the far north both look far more exciting that the United States! Surely this was a student assignment focused on islands, capes, and coastal waters, but the effect looking at it now is to make it feel like there is vast open territory yet to be explored, which makes me at least very hungry to travel! 

13 1/2" x 8 1/2". Good condition, done in pen, pencil and colored pencil on lined paper. A few old horizontal fold lines and a couple of small stains near the bottom.
