My documentation doesn't do justice to the beauty and subtlety of this photo, which immediately reminded me of the the indexical, typological photographs of Bernd and Hilla Becher. The twist, though, is the printed right border of the image, with what looks like a leaf caught just inside in the frame. Really wonderful shadows cast by the the beams of what I guess would be described as an arbor framing the front door. And if you look closely you can see a fingerprint at the center left of the image that must have been caught on the negative.
5 1/4" x 3 7/16". Postmarked Aug 9, 1911 and addressed (to a Mr ? at the Tanglewood Fruit Farm) on the back. Some age toning, minor bumping to corners and a few small stains, no real matter.
