You likely know how much I love Color Cubes, produced by the US Embossing Company, but even better a set of homemade, hand-painted color cubes, coming close to matching the originals, but not quite. I like to imagine these were made for a daughter by her father, who took great pains to copy the originals, and then constructed and painted a special box to house them in, decoupaging a picture of a young girl on its face, perhaps a photo of the girl herself? Very full of love.
Box measures 7 7/8" x 7 3/4" x 1 11/16". The lid of the hinged box shows a bit of warping and there is no hook to hold it closed, but if one were added I do believe it would clasp. The painted surfaces of the cubes shows some old paint smears and general wear, which adds to their very homemade feel.
