I love a photo of a May Day celebration--a wonderfully pagan event, with origins in ancient agricultural rituals, symbolizing fertility and the coming of the growing season. (With a phallic raised pole at the center of it all!) Quite an excellent young king and queen in this one, looking not altogether certain about being at the center of it all, and none too attached to each other, either! I particularly love the faces and expressions, outfits and gestures of rest of the young celebrants (so many ruffles!), most of all the taller girl in glasses at near right, looking uncomfortable and altogether relatable to me! With mother holding a baby watching from the porch above at upper right too.
4 1/2" x 2 3/4" and in good condition.
