No way could I resist this one, with the loss to the top edge of the card and the dramatic toning seeming all of a piece with the scene and subject; holiness degraded, or transcending! Looks like train tracks in the background; whether this Madonna set on her palette has recently arrived, or is destined to travel, I'm not sure, but looks like various bits of stone blocks, or something, scattered about the yard. Her intense, straight ahead gaze together with her arm raised and hand turned heavenward completely does it for me.
8 3/4 x 12 1/16 photo; mounted 14 x 17. Toning and loss to the backing card as evident. I would lay a mat over top concealing the edges of the card while allowing that toning to show like heavenly light and put it in a fame.
