I purchased these excellent old Eberhard-Faber "gold sticks" and two beautiful boxes of old chalks (also listed today) from a dealer at Brimfield who had found them all together--I'll never resist beautiful old art/school supplies, and find them immensely satisfying just to look at, whether or not ever to use. And a golden box of golden sticks feels like a pretty luxurious thing to me--and these are quite heavy, as if sticks of real gold! I did test one--as shown--yielding what feels like pure gold indeed. I can't find another set of these out there anywhere, which I would guess date to the mid 20th c.
9 of 12 present, unused. Box measures 4 3/4" x 4 1/8" x 1/2". All in good condition, with a little old felt visible on the tray where it is empty.
