Purchased from a dealer from New England at the Rhinebeck Antiques show, I love everything about this very lovingly crafted old hand-carved frame, with wonderfully constructed standing back. With perfectly imperfectly carved points and arches running across the top and bottom punctuated with little holes that follow their own logic. With a gap at the top of the frame for sliding in glass and a picture.
Overall: 7 5/8" x 5 7/8" x 2 3/4" d. Frame itself - outside: 5 7/8" x 4 5/8"; inside 4 3/8" x 3 1/2", so holds glass/image approx 4" x 5". All in very good, sturdy and sound condition, with just a couple of minor spots of stain loss, as documented. Just needs a piece of glass. Late 19th/early 20th c. I believe and all the more charming in person.
