I have a weakness for old photos of boxers, and even more so of boxing matches themselves--the most brutal of sports, but also the most elemental; an intimate, acutely focused sort of call and response dance. This is one of two photos found together, each capturing a moment from a different match, between navy sailors, WW2, I believe. Captured in motion from the perfect perspective to show the wrists of the two boxers crossing as an impending punch is (I think!) being blocked. With rows of faces and bodies of the crew watching in the background.
5" x 3 1/4" and in good condition, crease to upper left corner. Last photo shows it side by side with the other, listed separately (not a great photo, but shows this one is just slightly larger than the other, and a little darker in tonality.)
