I spotted this stunning vase in a case otherwise filled with American Art Pottery from the early 20th century, where it both stood out and fit right in. (The form also immediately reminded me of Edward Weston's photographs of bell peppers!) Beautifully crafted and super sculptural, it reads from a distance as (Arts and Crafts) matte green, but looking more closely one sees it is bluer in the recesses and under and around the lip. Gorgeous all the way around and just lovely.
9 11/16" tall x 4 3/8" widest. 1 15/16" across at lip. The opening is small, large enough for one dramatic stalk. It is signed and dated '04 on the underside, but I can't quite decipher the signature. Excellent condition, with a few glaze imperfections original to the piece.
