Perhaps my favorite find of the week--a very old envelop with this beautiful inked X across the face of it, and 14 paper thin golden brass X's inside. Perhaps these were left over from cut stencils, or perhaps they were cut to use as templates, I am not sure, but they strike me as perfect valentines now--or the perfect single valentine, with the 14 of them serendipitously corresponding to the 14th of February. Just lovely and like a very special feeling surprise.
Envelope: 8 1/2" x 4 1/2". Each X measures 3" x 2 1/4". Nice variation of patina to the X's, some very bright gold, some showing a little tarnish, all to the good. A tear to the back of the envelop as documented.
