When I spotted this box, I though the design was pretty excellent, then I looked it up to find that others agree—made by Elizabeth Arden as a powder compact in the 1940s, it has been widely published and become something of an iconic design. Gilt brass with black enamel, and with a mirror on the inside lid. Pretty rare, these seem to be selling in the $200-$300 range, but as this one shows some loss to the enamel (looking a bit like a snaking trail of glitter), I'm pricing much lower. Otherwise it is in good condition, with some cloudiness to the mirror and minor scratching top the brass. Hinges are tight and it opens with ease and closes flush and tight.
