Such a fun one. I'm always delighted by the humor of those Brits in the early 1800s--this Georgian snuff box immediately made me think of a Sunderland transferware chamber pot I once had of the same period, with witty verse of the toilet humor variety and a frog inside, waiting with open mouth! This snuff box feels more carnivalesque, as if a window offering a view of a boy uncomfortably trapped inside the box! A rare one, and a great one, which also makes me think of early distorted anamorphic images.
3" x 2 3/16" x 1 1/8" t. No hinge but lid fits tight and flush, really no loss not to have the hinge.. Otherwise just a little minor loss to the image on the face, as evident.
