Such a beautiful thing, from the hand-marbled paper cover, to the way Cornelius has written his name and numbers 1-4 on the inside flap, to every completely filled page of writing in it. I've looked at a fair number of these antique hand-writing practice notebooks at this point and think the content in this one is especially excellent, with a super choice of words and phrases repeated over and over: "bankrupt in debt beyond the power of payment"; "Ephemera an insect which lives only one day"; "Gasconade boast bravado"; "Keenly Sharply Vehement"; "Knighterrantry"; "Pentateuch"; "Quadraped any animal that walks on four legs"; and, perhaps best of all: "Sensualist one devoted to carnal enjoyments"!!! Finally, on the last page, "Weatherbeaten." Really marvelous.
7 3/8" x 9". 20 pages filled on both sides, (so 40 pages of text.) Some flagging to the upper right corner and staining just to that corner on a section of pages, pretty minor (the worst of these is pictured in a detail photo). Otherwise a small tear to the cover at the bottom left spine corner, also pretty minor. Overall very good condition and very clear.
