Another Makah basket, from the Northwestern tip of the Olympic Peninsula in Washington state, which I will always scoop up when I can as they're my favorite baskets of all. The color on this one has faded, as looking inside makes very clear, but it is an old one, and beautifully constructed, made entirely of bear grass and cedar bark, with no incorporation of raffia, as seems to have became the common case post 1930s or so; I believe this one is earlier 20th c. I personally love the subtlety of the color now, and the pale wheat color of most of it, all the more beautiful when the rich brown of the cedar bark lip is exposed.
3 1/4" in diameter x 2 3/8" tall. Blue and purple color faded as evident but in very good structural condition.
