From what I understand, old shaving mugs like this would live on a shelf at a barber shop--one for each regular, with his name on it, and painted imagery specific to him. The most valuable are those that bear elaborate hand-painted iconography relating to the occupation of its owner, especially rarer ones: a baseball player, or a lawyer, or a coroner, say! This Odd Fellows shaving mug is not of that ilk, but I always love seeing the FLT links, especially in glimmering gold paint, which has held on nicely on this one, once owned by a Charles Monroe. Found in Vermont and in very good condition, white bright and gold gleaming.
3 3/4" t x 3 9/16" d; 4 1/2 across at handle. Very good antique condition.
