It was quite a coincidence to come upon these the other day--a handful of pencil drawings loose in a notebook dated 1902 and owned by Carlotta Huse, a series of whose larger drawings on ledger people were featured in a recent collaboration between Critical Eye and Ricco/Maresca Gallery-- and a number of which are still available in the shop. [Here's a link to those.] The cover of the notebook I found these in, a photo of which I've included here, features the title "Fashions by C.M. Huse" and, below, "10 Cents a Copy, $1 a Year." So, our miss Carlotta, who we knew from the other drawings was very interested in the fashions of the day, here shows yourself as a young entrepreneur! And most of these drawings include prices should one wish to order one of the outfits! I especially like her misspelling of stylish and wrapper.
Drawings measure approx 8 1/4" x 7 1/8" and are in overall good condition with some unevenness around the edges. Sold individually, price is per drawing; please add how many you want to your cart then indicate in the notes field at checkout the letter/s of the drawing/s you want.
