These butterflies I found together with the watercolor of feathers also just listed--I am sure done by the same maker, mid 19th century I believe, and certainly feathers and butterfly wings seem all of a piece. Gorgeous detailing on these splendid creatures, flying in every direction, with a few leafy sprigs, a lady bug for good luck, and what I take for a bee and a mosquito, too. Finely rendered in ink and watercolor, lovely.
9 1/2" x 6 3/8" and in good condition with a few scattered, minor smudges to the white of the paper .
